About Ride Acadiana

Ride Acadiana is a pilot route testing the concept of a regional commuter bus service, connecting Acadia Parish to Lafayette. It is intended to link rural and urban areas, and provide greater access to employment and education opportunities, healthcare, shopping and more. Another expected benefit is reducing the number of vehicles on the road, thereby easing traffic congestion and air pollution.

The route includes stops in Crowley, Rayne, Duson, Scott, and in several Lafayette locations, including the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, South Louisiana Community College, Lafayette General Medical Center and University Hospital & Clinics. Two transfer stops will enable riders to connect to the full Lafayette Transit System for access to locations throughout the city.

Funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the pilot is supported by the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development, Acadiana Planning Commission and Lafayette Consolidated Government.

If this pilot route is successful, there is the potential to eventually connect all Acadiana parishes through a regional commuter bus service.
